FR Simiane-la-Rotonde est une commune française située dans le département des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

Cette église date du xvie siècle et est classée aux monuments historiques depuis 1922.

Le culte de Sainte-Victoire
On raconte que sur les flancs du Buisseron, à proximité de la Combe-du-Pommier, un ermite du nom de Victoire vivait dans une grotte du voisinage. Un mince filet d'eau lui fournissait de quoi boire et une vasque naturelle, aujourd'hui presque disparue, retenait l'eau nécessaire à sa lessive.
Cependant, elle passait la plus heureuse partie de son temps à l'entrée d'une deuxième anfractuosité rocheuse où elle épanchait sa prière et sa joie d'enfant de Dieu.
Victoire termina son existence à l'entrée de l'église de Simiane. Un jour des gens passant au Buisseron, la trouvèrent presque mourante dans son oratoire. Ils essayèrent de la secourir et la portèrent à Simiane sur une civière, mais Victoire expira quand ils arrivèrent devant la maison de Dieu.
Sanctifiée, sainte Victoire est devenue un personnage mythique qui compte encore dans le cœur des Simianais. Au début du XVIe siècle, lorsqu'il fut question de construire une nouvelle église, c'est à Madame Sainte Victoire qu'on la voua. De même, les registres paroissiaux montrent que la plupart des filles de Simiane avaient adopté le prénom Victoire.
Au début du XXe siècle, lors de la fête patronale de la Sainte-Victoire, la grand-messe se terminait par une procession durant laquelle la statue de sainte Victoire était portée par quatre femmes.
Aujourd'hui, il subsiste un oratoire Sainte-Victoire (noté chapelle sur la carte IGN) sur les flancs du Buisseron, un des points culminants du secteur (1 120 m).

The cult of Sainte-Victoire
It is said that on the flanks of Buisseron, near Combe-du-Pommier, a hermit by the name of Victoire lived in a nearby cave. A thin trickle of water provided him with something to drink and a natural basin, now almost gone, retained the water necessary for his laundry.
However, she spent the happiest part of her time at the entrance to a second rocky crevice where she poured out her prayer and her joy as a child of God.
Victoire ended its existence at the entrance to the church of Simiane. One day people passing by Le Buisseron found her almost dying in her oratory. They tried to rescue her and carried her to Simiane on a stretcher, but Victoire died when they reached the house of God.
Sanctified, Saint Victoire has become a mythical figure that still counts in the hearts of the Simianais. At the beginning of the 16th century, when it was a question of building a new church, it was to Madame Sainte Victoire that it was dedicated. Likewise, parish registers show that most of Simiane's daughters had adopted the first name Victoire.
At the beginning of the 20th century, during the patronal feast of Sainte-Victoire, the high mass ended with a procession during which the statue of Sainte Victoire was carried by four women.
Today, there remains a Sainte-Victoire oratory (noted chapel on the IGN map) on the slopes of Buisseron, one of the highest points in the sector (1,120 m).
