The church actually has two websites, one
here and the other at the Website provided below. The latter has an interesting
history, noting that by the time Tolar was about ten years old in 1900, there were three churches here: Baptist, Presbyterian, and Church of Christ. The Methodists had to go elsewhere to worship, and they'd already begun to give thought to having their own sanctuary. On May 9th, 1900, approval was given to construct a church in Tolar, across from where the current post office stands, and services were conducted in a brush arbor until the sanctuary was completed in 1901. In 1925, the church decided to relocate to be a little closer to town, so they tore down their sanctuary and re-used materials from it to construct this sanctuary. There is no indication as to whether this bell is from the original church building. It was cast by the C.S. Bell Company from Hillsboro, OH, mounted on a #30 yoke supported by a brick foundation. It has been painted multiple times, and looks like it's ready for a good clean and touch-up.
