[FR] "À l’occasion de la Journée de l’Europe et pendant le week-end des 8 et 9 mai, a été célébré l’anniversaire de vingt années d’amitié entre les villes de Châtelaillon-Plage et de Knebworth. La municipalité et le Comité de jumelage franco-anglais ont accueilli près de 150 amis anglais et ont organisé des festivités.
Le 16 juin 1990 avait été signé l’acte de jumelage, au château de Knebworth, par Lord David Cobbold, Jean-Louis Léonard, le maire Gordon Dumelow et Marie-France Bodin. Cette dernière, présidente du Comité de jumelage pour Châtelaillon avait entamé, dès 1984, ce rapprochement. Le 30 septembre 1990, le serment de jumelage était également signé à Châtelaillon.
Les amis anglais, reçus dans des familles châtelaillonnaises, ont été accueillis le vendredi soir par un apéritif et une projection d’un diaporama de la ville, à Beauséjour. Samedi, le jour de la commémoration du 8 Mai, a été rendu un hommage au cimetière, en mémoire des soldats anglais morts à Châtelaillon.
Serment renouvelé
Le soir, lors du dîner de gala, dans la salle polyvalente, il a été procédé à la signature du renouvellement du serment de jumelage entre Châtelaillon et Kenbworth, par Lord David Cobbold et Jean-Louis Léonard, puis par les présidents des comités de jumelage, Joy Hall et Paul Schelouch.
La soirée était animée par l’orchestre d’harmonie, les groupes folkloriques les Mélusines et les Sabots rouges?; puis le groupe Music Story a interprété un répertoire spécial « pop anglaise ».
Dimanche matin, sous la pluie, le défilé était emmené par la batterie-fanfare et animé par le groupe anglais des Sabots rouges. La mairie accueillait ensuite l’apéritif (qui n’a pu, en raison du temps, se faire sur le parvis de l’église). Moment d’émotion : la lecture du texte de Robert Schuman (datant du 6 mai 1950), pour la proclamation de la création de l’Europe.
L’après-midi, place à une Criket Garden Party dans la salle polyvalente. La pluie n’a pas permis de disputer les matchs sur la pelouse du stade, mais les joueurs ont proposé des démonstrations sur les bases du jeu ainsi que des initiations destinées aux enfants. L’heure du thé était ensuite venue…
Après ces deux jours de festivités, les Anglais ont visité l’île de Ré, lundi?; et mardi, avant le départ, les deux bureaux des comités de jumelage ont évoqué le programme des échanges."

In the evening, during the gala dinner, in the multipurpose room, the renewal of the twinning oath between Châtelaillon and Kenbworth was signed by Lord David Cobbold and Jean-Louis Léonard, then by the chairs of the twinning committees , Joy Hall and Paul Schelouch.
The evening was animated by the harmony orchestra, the folk groups the Mélusines and the Red Clogs; then the group Music Story performed a special repertoire "English pop".
Sunday morning, in the rain, the parade was led by the drums and fanfare and led by the English group of Red Clogs. The town hall then hosted the aperitif (which, due to the weather, could not be done on the church square).
