Installées primitivement à l'hôtel Beaumanoir, les religieuses acquièrent un vaste enclos de plus d'un hectare à l'Est de la ville et font construire, à partir de 1658, un nouveau et très imposant couvent à l'architecture classique.
La Chapelle, très élégante avec sa façade de style jésuite, est érigée entre 1661 et 1664, année du transfert des religieuses, mais il faut attendre l'année 1676 pour que les travaux du couvent soient définitivement achevés.
Expulsées le 3 octobre 1792, les trentes religieuses sont dispersées. Transformé en prison puis en caserne, il faut attendre l'année 1817 pour que la Municipalité y fasse transférer l'hôpital de la ville. Ce dernier y restera pendant 150 ans. Depuis 2005, le couvent réhabilité abrite la Bibliothèque Municipale

Originally installed at the Hotel Beaumanoir, the nuns acquired a large enclosure of more than one hectare to the east of the city and had a new, very imposing convent built in classical architecture built in 1658.
The Chapel, very elegant with its Jesuit-style facade, was erected between 1661 and 1664, the year of the nuns' transfer, but it was not until 1676 that the works of the convent were finally completed.
Expelled on October 3, 1792, the thirty religious were dispersed. Transformed into a prison and then into a barracks, it was not until 1817 that the Municipality transferred the city hospital there. The latter stayed there for 150 years. Since 2005, the rehabilitated convent has housed the Municipal Library.
