Le 6 août 1944 près du grand pont de Font Jouvale, un guet-apens est tendu par un commando de sept patriotes, sous les ordres du capitaine Robert Bourcart. Une voiture transportant quatre officiers et le chauffeur se présente sur la route et sert de cible aux grenades. Le véhicule et ses occupants sont précipités au fond des gorges.

Le convoi de cinq ou six camions militaires qui suivait à distance s'immobilise et les soldats allemands ripostent au feu des Résistants, mitraillant à l'aveuglette le flanc de la montagne. Le commando réussit à se replier et ne déplore qu'un blessé léger.

Les explosions ont été entendues jusqu'à Cantarel, situé à trois kilomètres de là. Sans attendre, de peur des représailles, mon père décide de s'éloigner et me demande de le suivre.

Nous partons à pied vers Saint-Lambert puis nous re­descendons la combe jusqu'au Pas-du-Loup. Nous nous arrêtons à mi-chemin de Bézaure devant une cabane en pierre, refuge où nous resterons une semaine. C'est ma mère qui faisait une grande partie du chemin pour nous apporter à manger. Nous resterons en ces lieux jusqu'au repli des Allemands se dirigeant vers Cavaillon.

On August 6, 1944, near the great bridge of Font Jouvale, a trap was set by a commando of seven patriots, under the command of Captain Robert Bourcart. A car carrying four officers and the driver appeared on the road and was used as a target for grenades. The vehicle and its occupants were thrown to the bottom of the gorges.

The convoy of five or six military trucks that followed from a distance came to a halt and the German soldiers retaliated to the Resistance fighters' fire, blindly shooting the side of the mountain. The commando succeeded in withdrawing and deplored only one minor injury.

The explosions were heard as far as Cantarel, three kilometres away. Without delay, for fear of reprisals, my father decided to move away and asked me to follow him.

We leave on foot towards Saint-Lambert then we go down the valley to the Pas-du-Loup. We stop halfway to Bézaure in front of a stone hut, a refuge where we will stay for a week. It was my mother who made a big part of the way to bring us food. We will stay here until the Germans withdraw towards Cavaillon.
