"According to tradition, the sovereign would have stayed there when she came to supervise the work on the castle. It occupies the site of the entrance to the old Château-Gaillard demolished in 1573.
The tradition can therefore only be true if this house was part of Château-Gaillard. Catherine de Medici would also have stayed there in 1570.
The house was burned down in 1944. It has a window with a chamfered lintel, surmounted by an archivolte in brace and some carved supports.
It is flanked by a circular staircase turret at its base, octagonal at its top, with machicolation. The lower part could be older than the upper part. "
