"Impressive building, only one of this type in the immediate area. In section once known as Chaneyville, in part of the Heights below the Bayou. The original bank Citizens' State Bank, and the later Heights State Bank were both active in local affairs.

Two-and-a-half-story commercial (bank) building of rusticated ashlar over a smooth stone base; inset arched entrance with voussoirs and projecting keystone, surmounted by three windows with eight lights; entrance flanked by tall Corinthian columns; bays to each side exhibit ornamented doorway (one is now a window) with pilasters and prominent pediment; one sixteen-light window on each floor of each side bay; parapet of stone balusters above central cartouche and large cornice; entablature below bears inscription "Heights State Bank."
