This lady is standing in front of a wall painted in symmetrical shapes. Her large and light hat is created from geometric patterns as well. She is wearing a wrap around skirt over striped coloured pants and a black top. The dominant colour scheme being red, black, gold and pink. She has a black gem ring on her ring finger and an arm band with colourful decorations on her right arm. She is anxiously waiting for her husband to come and pick-her up as they are scheduled to attend the Ottawa Red Blacks Grey Cup Party at the local Convention Centre.
Drew Mandigo created the first seventeen Downtown Rideau Mural Boxes installed in late 2016, from his Auntie Mame Series. Stunning in their originality, Drew’s works feature digital collages of ladies dressed in 1950’s and 60’s fashions, and are inspired by the spirit of the 1958 film of the same name. Several new pieces were released as part of the 2017 mural box expansion project, including one featuring a lady trapped in a glass dome, surrounded by butterflies, and a unique piece dubbed ‘the upside-down lady’.
