In front of the entrance to the Cracker Trail Museum at the Pioneer Park located at the intersection of US Hwy 17 and State Road 64, also designated as the Florida Cracker Trail, is a post mounted antique farm bell.
This bell was manufactured by the C.S. Bell bellfoundry located in Hillsboro, Ohio. It was cast sometime between 1882-1894. This can be calculated by looking at the yolk of the bell and seeing the name used. The company changed names over the years, the name C.S. Bell was used during the years of operation from 1875-1882, C.S. Bell & Co. was used between 1882-1894, and The C.S. Bell Co. was used between 1894-1970’s.
This type of bell was common on farms and homesteads.
