Praia Banana became famous in the late 20th Century thanks to a commercial shot here for rum Baccardi.
For many years access was hard, eventually by sea only. But recently, with the opening of a luxury hotel in the former administration house of a nearby plantation, a dirt road is kept in acceptable condition (a 4 wheel car is still necessary).
Before reaching the beach there is an impressive viewpoint with a nice picnic area, some tables, parking.
The beach is small, in the shape of a banana, thus the name. Nowadays there is a small beach bar and restrooms. Some tables, hammocks. Sunbaths.
Coordinates take by the bar. Access is through the roça Belo Monte, after entering the property, It's private but accessible to the general public.
