The location of the first tee of the Live Oak Park (Hillside) Disc Golf Course is at the edge of the parking lot and only feet away from Shin Oak Drive. Directions for finding the Live Oak Park (Hillside) Disc Golf Course is as follows.
Driving on North I-35 ( as if going toward New Braunfels, TX), take Exit 170-B to Toepperwein Road. Turn right onto Toepperwein Road and go a short distance before turning left onto Village Oak Drive. Follow Village Oak Drive many blocks until you reach the intersection with Shin Oak Drive. Turn right onto Shin Oak and drive several blocks until you reach the intersection with Old Spanish Trail. Stay on Shin Oak Drive but pass straight through this intersection, but be prepared to turn right into the parking lot of the Live Oak Park (Hillside) Disc Golf Course just yards beyond the intersection.

There is ample parking places in the lot at the first tee. This is an 18 hole course, but there is a "warm up" basket within sight of the parking lot and a little to the right of the first tee. This is marked as the "19th Hole". You can either use it to warm up your tossing arm or wait til the end and play it as a bonus hole. To the right of the first tee pad is an information board with the course layout displaying the progression of the hole locations. At this course you do cross a regular street for the 4th tee pad and you cross the street again to get to the 9th tee pad. Of the total 19 holes available to play, 11 are par 3, 6 are par 4, and 2 are par 5. Some of the lanes are close to each other and toward the last half finding the next tee can be a bit confusing to some one new to the course. There are arrow markers that help in general, but when you see a sign warning you that on your way to the next tee pad you will be passing by a different basket number, it can be hard to find the correct path until you play the course a few times. Although there are many large trees overhead and trees in the fairways, there are only some holes that have underbrush to block the view. Most of the lanes are clean of underbrush, but you will still hit the trees that remain. A number of the holes are long enough or are hilly enough that you cannot see the end basket from the tee (thus the par 4s and 5s). This is one of the few disc golf courses in the San Antonio metropolitan are that have par 5 holes.
