Par sa stature, son élégance et son esthétisme, elle s’inscrit harmonieusement et efficacement dans l’espace. Des images familières qui réfèrent à la nature à proximité de la ville sont accolées aux premières lettres de l’abécédaire. Elles constituent un ensemble harmonieux qui évoque la forme du carrousel des jeux d’enfants. Telles les lettrines d’une enluminure, les lettres annoncent leur sujet. La lettre A est munie d’ailes, tandis que la lettre B est associée au bateau, qui symbolise ici le portage indissociable de l’histoire de la région. Un cheval survole le C, tandis que les doigts de la main émergent du D et qu’une petite étoile pointe sur le E. Le F supporte quant à lui une délicate feuille verte aux reflets métallisés, que l’artiste a judicieusement reproduite en corollaire dans une autre sculpture sise à proximité de la bibliothèque.

LUCE PELLETIER

Née en 1964 à Sainte-Luce, Luce Pelletier vit et travaille à Québec. Elle détient une maîtrise en histoire de l’art et création de l’Université du Québec à Montréal et enseigne à la Maison des métiers d’art de Québec. Réalisant des œuvres éphémères en nature et des sculptures permanentes dans l’espace public, l’artiste s’intéresse au rapport de l’homme avec son environnement. Elle compte près de 20 œuvres d’art public au Québec.

Familiar images that refer to nature in the vicinity of the city are contiguous to the first letters of the alphabet. They are a harmonious whole that evokes the shape of the carousel of children's games. Like the initials of an illumination, the letters announce their subject. The letter A is equipped with wings, while the letter B is associated with the boat, which symbolizes here the inseparable portage of the history of the region. A horse flies over the C, while the fingers of the hand emerge from the D and a small star points to the E. LUCE PELLETIER

Born in Sainte-Luce in 1964, Luce Pelletier lives and works in Québec City. She holds a master’s degree in art history and art practice from the Université du Québec à Montréal and teaches at the Maison des métiers d’art de Québec. In her production of ephemeral artworks in nature and permanent sculptures in the public space, Pelletier is interested in the relationship between humans and their environment. She has produced almost 20 works of public art in Québec.
