Het Sint-Stanislascollege is een voortzetting van de vroegere Latijnse school die vanaf 1657 tot 1796 gevestigd was in het recollettenklooster in de Gasthuisstraat nummer 71. Het huidige collegedomein is gelegen in de hoek gevormd door Burgemeester Bertenplein, Deken De Bolaan en Rekhof. Het behoorde vroeger toe aan de familie Mazeman de Couthove (onder meer ook eigenaar van het domein ''t Couthof' in Proven), die aan de zijde van het plein een herenhuis (linker gedeelte nummer 32) bezat. In 1832 werd het herenhuis verkocht aan J. Van Merris, die het ter beschikking stelde van principaal Frutsaert als huisvesting voor het opnieuw gestarte college. In 1855 volgde de bouw van een nieuwe rechter vleugel (rechter gedeelte nummer 32) naar ontwerp van de Kortrijkse architect P. Croquison (1806-1887) in een aansluitende bouwtrant. Dit gebeurde op een aanpalend terrein in erfpacht gehuurd volgens contract tussen Beatrice van Renynghe, weduwe J. Van Merris, en Mgr. Malou. Dezelfde architect ontwierp in deze periode ook het kasteel 'De Lovie' (1856) te Proven voor de familie Van Merris. In 1859 werd het hele domein met toebehoren aan het bisdom geschonken. De bouw van de neogotische kapel rechts palend aan het hoofdgebouw vond plaats in 1863. In 1879 en 1893 volgde de bouw van de neogotische linker vleugel (nummer 30) waarin men de Sint-Jozefsschool (1879-1922) of de latere lagere afdeling van het college onderbracht. In 1924 werd de lagere afdeling uitgebreid met nieuwe bouw haaks tegen de achtergevel van de neogotische vleugel. Latere uitbreidingen kwamen er nog aan de speelplaatszijde achter de hoofdvleugel, respectievelijk in 1926, 1954 en 1958; beide laatstgenoemde naar ontwerp van architect J. De Creus uit Poperinge. In 1964-1965 ten slotte bouwde men een feestzaal met aansluitende kapel naar ontwerp van architect L. Delafontaine (Roeselare), ter hoogte van de in 1963 gesloopte neogotische kapel.

Le collège Saint-Stanislas est une continuation de l'ancienne école latine qui, de 1657 à 1796, était située dans le couvent des Recollets, au numéro 71 de la Rue Gasthuis. Le terrain actuel du collège est situé dans le coin formé par le maire Bertenplein, le doyen De Bolaan et Rekhof. Elle appartenait à la famille Mazeman de Couthove (également propriétaire du domaine "t Couthof" à Proven), qui possédait un hôtel particulier (partie gauche n°32) sur le côté de la place. En 1832, le manoir fut vendu à J. Van Merris, qui le mit à la disposition du principal Frutsaert comme logement pour le collège redémarré. En 1855, une nouvelle aile droite (partie droite numéro 32), conçue par l'architecte Courtrai P. Croquison (1806-1887), fut construite dans un style adjacent. C'est ce qui s'est passé sur un terrain adjacent loué en vertu d'un contrat entre Beatrice van Renynghe, la veuve J. Van Merris et Mgr Malou. Le même architecte a également conçu le château'De Lovie' (1856) à Proven pour la famille Van Merris à cette époque. En 1859, tout le domaine et ses accessoires furent donnés au diocèse. La chapelle néogothique à droite du bâtiment principal a été construite en 1863. En 1879 et 1893, l'aile gauche néo-gothique (numéro 30) a été construite dans laquelle se trouvait l'école Sint-Jozefss (1879-1922) ou la partie inférieure ultérieure du collège. En 1924, la partie inférieure fut agrandie par une nouvelle construction perpendiculaire au mur arrière de l'aile néo-gothique. En 1926, 1954 et 1958, des agrandissements ultérieurs ont été réalisés du côté de la cour de récréation derrière l'aile principale, tous deux conçus par l'architecte J. De Creus de Poperinge. Enfin, en 1964-1965, une salle de réception avec chapelle adjacente, conçue par l'architecte L. Delafontaine (Roulers), a été construite à proximité de la chapelle néogothique qui a été démolie en 1963.

The Sint-Stanislascollege is a continuation of the former Latin school which from 1657 to 1796 was located in the convent of recollets in the Gasthuisstraat number 71. The current college grounds are located in the corner formed by Mayor Bertenplein, Dean De Bolaan and Rekhof. It used to belong to the Mazeman de Couthove family (also the owner of the "t Couthof" estate in Proven), who owned a mansion (left part number 32) on the side of the square. In 1832, the mansion was sold to J. Van Merris, who made it available to the principal Frutsaert as accommodation for the restarted college. In 1855 a new right wing (right part number 32), designed by the Kortrijk architect P. Croquison (1806-1887), was built in an adjacent style. This happened on an adjoining leasehold site rented under contract between Beatrice van Renynghe, widow J. Van Merris, and Msgr. Malou. The same architect also designed the castle 'De Lovie' (1856) in Proven for the Van Merris family during this period. In 1859, the entire domain and its accessories were donated to the diocese. The neo-Gothic chapel to the right of the main building was built in 1863. In 1879 and 1893 the neo-Gothic left wing (number 30) was built in which the Sint-Jozefsschool (1879-1922) or the later lower section of the college was housed. In 1924, the lower section was expanded with new construction at right angles to the rear wall of the neo-Gothic wing. Later expansions were made on the playground side behind the main wing in 1926, 1954 and 1958 respectively, both of which were designed by architect J. De Creus from Poperinge. Finally, in 1964-1965, a banqueting hall with adjacent chapel, designed by architect L. Delafontaine (Roeselare), was built in the vicinity of the neo-Gothic chapel that was demolished in 1963.
