CZ: Dominantní socharské dílo barokních socharu Františka a Mateje Tollingeru a kameníka Antonína Falkeho pochází z let 1716-19. V první etáži podstavce jsou umísteny reliéfy Zvestování Panny Marie, Navštívení Panny Marie, Uvedení Panny Marie do chrámu a Reliéf Sv. Rozálie, ochrankyne proti moru. Nad rímsou jsou v barokních kartuších znaky zemí Koruny ceské a Velvar, na architektonicky rozvinutých nárožích podstavce stojí sochy sv. Václava, sv. Floriána, sv. Prokopa a sv. Šebestiána. Vlastní obelisk, pokrytý oblácky s andely nesoucími symboly mariánských litanií, vrcholí sochou Panny Marie Immaculaty. Ikonografie sloupu vychází z barokní zbožnosti. Matka nebes predstavuje ochranu pred pohromami a nemocemi. V prípade Velvar meli stavitelé na pameti i morovou nákazu, která mesto v roce 1713 postihla.
EN: The dominant sculptural work of Baroque sculptors František and Matej Tollinger and stonemason Antonín Falke dates from 1716-19. In the first floor of the pedestal there are reliefs of the Annunciation, Visitation of the Virgin Mary, Introduction of the Virgin Mary to the temple and relief Sv. Rosalia, the plague guard. Above the cornice there are emblems of the lands of the Czech Crown and Velvary in the Baroque cartouches. On the architecturally developed corners of the pedestal there are statues of St. Wenceslas, St. Florian, St. Procopius and St. Sebastian. The obelisk itself, covered with clouds with angels bearing the symbols of Marian litany, culminates in a statue of the Virgin Mary Immaculata. The iconography of the column is based on Baroque piety. The Mother of Heaven represents protection from disasters and diseases. In the case of Velvar, the builders also remembered the plague that affected the city in 1713.
