Le 15 Août 1944 c'est le débarquement de Provence, Londres appelle à l'insurection générale. Quelques parachutistes américains atterrissent dans les environs de Lorgues.
De jeunes patriotes lorguais décidèrent d'agir pour participer au combat.Certains minèrent et firent sauter le pont sur la Florièye.
D'autres , accompagnés par deux des parachutistes américains, partirent au matin du 15 août avec deux camionettes aux Nouradons pour y accueillir un parachutage effectué la veille et comprenant des armes , des vivres, des chaussures. Ne pouvant revenir à Lorgues par le pont de la Florièye ils décidèrent de passer par les Arcs, mais se heurtèrent entre la garre et le carrefour de la route de Lorgues à un détachement allemand qui les stoppa au canon antichar et à la mitrailleuse: 13 d'entre eux furent tués ou achevés par l'ennemi. C'est à cet endroit que sera érigé le mémorial.

August 15, 1944 is the landing of Provence, London calls for general insurrection. Some American paratroopers land in the vicinity of Lorgues.
Young Lorguan patriots decided to take part in the fight. Some mined and blew up the bridge over the Florièye.
Others, accompanied by two of the American paratroopers, left on the morning of August 15 with two vans to the Nouradons to accommodate a parachute made the day before and including weapons, food, shoes. Unable to return to Lorgues by the bridge of Florièye they decided to pass by the Arcs, but clashed between the garre and the crossroads of the Lorgues road to a German detachment which stopped them with anti-tank gun and machine gun: 13 between them were killed or finished by the enemy. This is where the memorial will be erected.
