This pub is in the centre of Leek and as the address suggests near the market square.

As well as a traditional sign of a red lion painted on a red board and suspended from above there is also a large red lion painted on the whitewashed wall of the pub.

Underneath the wall painted version of the lion is a date indicating the pub was established around 1708.
