"La station de Thuin est mise en service, le 6 novembre 1852, par la Compagnie du chemin de fer de Charleroi à la frontière de France, lorsqu'elle ouvre à l'exploitation sa ligne de Charleroi-Sud à Erquelinnes. Elle devient une gare de la Compagnie du Nord - Belge lorsqu'elle reprend l'exploitation de la ligne le 1er janvier 1854.

Au début des années 1880, elle est dénommée « gare de Thuin (Nord) » pour la distinguer de la « gare de Thuin (Ouest) » qui est mise en service sur la ligne de Mons à Chimay via Lobbes. Le 1er octobre 1916, son nom est modifié en « gare de Thuin-Nord ».

Sa dénomination officielle est de nouveau changée le 23 mai 1982 en « gare de Thuin ».

Le 1er juillet 2006, le guichet est fermé par la SNCB. Des négociations ont lieu entre la ville et la SNCB pour déterminer l'avenir du bâtiment voyageurs en mauvais état comme l'ensemble des installations. Le bourgmestre veut obtenir un bail emphytéotique gratuit avant d'engager des travaux de rénovation et réaménagement du bâtiment."

"The Thuin station was commissioned on 6 November 1852 by the Compagnie du chemin de fer de Charleroi on the French border when it opened its line from Charleroi-Sud to Erquelinnes for operation. It became a station of the Compagnie du Nord - Belge when it resumed operating the line on 1 January 1854.

In the early 1880s, it was called "Thuin Station (North)" to distinguish it from the "Thuin Station (West)" which was put into service on the Mons to Chimay line via Lobbes. On October 1, 1916, his name was changed to "Thuin North Station".

Its official name was changed again on 23 May 1982 to "Thuin station".

On 1 July 2006, the ticket office was closed by SNCB. Negotiations are taking place between the city and SNCB to determine the future of the passenger building in poor condition as well as all the facilities. The mayor wants to obtain a free emphyteutic lease before undertaking any renovation and redevelopment work on the building."
