Often referred to by the Pro Disc Golfers as Winthrop Gold, this course has been the home to the US Disc Golf Championships for over two decades. The course is situated on the Winthrop University campus. The standard Winthrop Gold course starts near the Winthrop University Pro Shop building and winds its way around Winthrop Lake. There is a modified Gold Course which includes tougher and longer holes. Finally there is a modified Gold course for nighttime play using more wide open fairways.

During my visit during the 2019 USDGC the courses was altered for increased difficulty. Hole ! was where hole 5 was on the Winthrop Gold Lakefront map.
