FR L'Hôtel des Monnaies, est un bâtiment à Avignon, dans le département de Vaucluse.

L'inscription sur la façade permet de savoir que l'hôtel a été construit en 1619. Le bâtiment a été commandité par le cardinal Scipion Borghese, légat du pape Paul V1. Il n'existe aucun document permettant d'attribuer la construction de l'hôtel des Monnaies à un architecte car les archives de la vice-légation ont été détruites par les troupes d'occupation de Louis XV au XVIIIe siècle puis pendant la Révolution.

Ses ornements hors d'échelle ont été cependant attribués à Simone Bartolacci, sculpteur florentin, qui est présent à Avignon entre 1615 et 1634.

Les quatre chimères sont sur le haut de la façade du bâtiment. Aux extrémités, ce sont des dragons, au centre des aigles.
EN The Hôtel des Monnaies, is a building in Avignon, in the department of Vaucluse.

The inscription on the facade indicates that the hotel was built in 1619. The building was commissioned by Cardinal Scipio Borghese, Legate of Pope Paul V1. There is no document to attribute the construction of the Mint to an architect because the archives of the Vice-Legation were destroyed by Louis XV's occupation troops in the 18th century and then during the Revolution.

However, its oversized ornaments were attributed to Simone Bartolacci, a Florentine sculptor, who was present in Avignon between 1615 and 1634.


The four chimeras are on the top of the building's façade. At the extremities, they are dragons, in the center of the eagles.
