The amphitheater at Waterplace Park in Providence, Rhode Island, has curved cobblestone walkways and benches topped with smooth concrete. The trapezoidal configuration faces south to a stage with a solid black floor and the circular Woonasquatucket River tidal basin. A sloped grassy area with mature trees is above to the north, tree lined and landscaped terraces to the east, and tiered patios to the west.

The amphitheater and stage are used for public performances and gatherings, especially on the nights of WaterFire, the on-going, regularly-scheduled, multi-sensory art event which draws tens of thousands of spectators to the city.
