These two mascots of the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, Mengya and Menghua, were presented to the Ottawa Municipal Government by the Beijing Municipal Government in October 2017.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Canada, and to promote the exchange between Beijing and Ottawa, the Beijing Municipal Government presents to the Ottawa Municipal Government the mascots of the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition (Beijing Expo 2019), Mengya and Menghua, as tokens of friendship between the two cities.
With the theme of "Live Green, Live Better", the Beijing Expo 2019, a world horticultural exhibition of the highest International level, will be held from April 29 to October 7, 2019 in Yanqing Distrrict, Beijing.
