The Farmers Co-op operates two grain elevators which sit side-by-side at the juncture of 8th Street and Washington on the east side of Bessie. The smaller elevator has six bins and was once the site of a Fallout Shelter in earlier days. It contains the head house, and is attached to the larger elevator by an elevated catwalk.
The larger elevator contains twenty bins and a plaque on its side indicates it was constructed in 1954 by Chalmers & Barton Contractors and Engineers out of Hutchinson, Kansas.
