De grens tussen België en het Groothertogdom Luxemburg werd definitief vastgesteld in 1839 samen met de Belgisch-Nederlandse grens.
De precieze loop van de grens en de plaats van de grenspalen werd in 1843 beschreven in het Protocol van Maastricht, in het "Proces-verbal descriptif de la délimitation entre la Grand-Duché et la Belgique" en de "Conventie der grenzen".
