FR"La fontaine de Walcourt est ornée de quatre statues représentant une cabaretière avec ses différents pots ; elles reflètent la réalité exceptée la dernière figure dont deux anses du pot, mal positionnées, se trouvent à l'avant alors qu'une devrait être placée à l'arrière (devant la cabaretière). Les quatre anses du pot sont opposées deux à deux.

Récit:

L'empereur Charles Quint, passant un jour à Walcourt, entre dans un cabaret et demande à boire. Comme il a grand soif, il exige un grand pot. À cette époque, les grands pots sont en grès. La cabaretière, serrant l'anse du pot, tend celui-ci au visiteur qui n'a d'autre moyen que de saisir le récipient à deux mains. En sortant du cabaret, Charles-Quint dit à un de ses serviteurs : « Vous enverrez à cette cabaretière un pot à deux anses. Ainsi, quand je reviendrai, j'aurai au moins une anse pour prendre le pot. » Peu de temps après, parcourant la contrée, l'empereur repasse à Walcourt et fait halte au cabaret. Il redemande un grand pot. La cabaretière prend celui qu'elle a reçu, l'emplit et le présente à son client en tenant les deux anses. Fort embarrassé, Charles dit à son compagnon : « Il faudra bien que vous envoyiez à cette cabaretière un pot à trois anses. De cette manière, je suis certain qu'il en restera une pour moi. » Ainsi fut dit, ainsi fut fait. L'année suivante, revenant chasser dans la région, l'empereur exprime le désir de retourner au fameux cabaret. On s'y rend. Croyant bien se trouver en présence d'un grand personnage, la Walcourienne va chercher le pot à trois anses. Mais, le présentant à son client, elle laisse la troisième anse de son côté. Encore une fois, l'empereur n'a d'autre ressource que de se saisir à deux mains la chopine. Et lorsqu'il quitte le cabaret, il confie aux gens de sa suite : « décidément, il faudra lui envoyer un pot à quatre anses ».

Depuis ce jour, à Walcourt et ailleurs, on boit la bière Charles Quint dans un pot à quatre anses.

Sur la place du Marché d’Olen, autre localité belge d’Olen dans la Province d'Anvers, se trouve une sculpture représentant le « pot à trois anses» , autre récit populaire liant l'empereur et un pot de bière."

EN "The fountain of Walcourt is decorated with four statues representing a female innkeeper with its different pots; they reflect reality except for the last figure, of which two handles of the pot, badly positioned, are at the front while one should be placed at the back (in front of the cabaret maker). The four handles of the pot are opposed two by two.

Story :

Local legend tells Emperor Charles V, spending a day in Walcourt, enters a cabaret and asks for a drink. As he is very thirsty, he requires a large pot. At that time, the large pots were made of sandstone. The hostess , tightening the handle of the pot, hands it to the visitor who has no other way than to grab the container with both hands. As he left the cabaret, Charles V said to one of his servants: "You will send this cabaret a two-handled pot to this cabaret. So when I come back, I'll have at least one handle to take the pot. "Shortly afterwards, as he roamed the region, the emperor returned to Walcourt and stopped at the cabaret. He asks for a big pot again. The hostess takes the one she received, fills it up and presents it to her customer by holding the two handles. Charles was very embarrassed and told his companion: "You will have to send this cabaret a three handle pot. In this way, I am sure that there will be one left for me. "Thus it was said, so it was done. The following year, returning to hunt in the region, the emperor expressed the desire to return to the famous inn. We're going there. Believing that she was in the presence of a great character, the Walcourian woman went to get the three-handled potty. But, introducing him to his client, she leaves the third handle on her side. Once again, the emperor has no other resource than to grab the pint with both hands. And when he leaves the cabaret, he tells the people in his suite: "You'll have to send him a four-handled pot ".

Since that day, in Walcourt and elsewhere, the Beer Charles Lequint(or Keizer Karel) has been drunk in a four-handled pot.

On the Place du Marché d'Olen, another Belgian town in Olen in the Province of Antwerp, there is a sculpture representing the "three-handled pot". another popular story linking the emperor and a beer pot."
