Grafton has had its share of floods since European settlement in the area, and this skinny white post has 10cm markings, with the 1:20 year estimated flood level at 7.85 metres, and the 1:100 estimated flood level at 8.25 metres. The 2001 flood is recorded at 7.7 metres.
This post measures up to 9.5 metres of river level.

On the river side of the dyke wall and gate this is another Flood Gauge fixed to the concrete block wall that the toilet block is on, that goes to 5 metres in height.
