This cemetery is sometimes confused with the Brawley-Silas-Canafax Cemetery, and in fact, there was a burial from that cemetery listed on Findagrave at one time. There are but four burials here, and the cemetery went inactive with the burial of patriarch, John Canafax, in 1910. Three of the four headstones bear the family name, while the fourth, John Hemphill, is a grandchild: Canafax's daughter, Rebecca, married into the Hemphill family to establish that link.
The Canafax Family Cemetery is one of many formerly-abandoned cemeteries in Parker County that has been recovered, now maintained by the Abandoned Cemetery Association of Parker County, Inc. Their sign is on the fence that encloses the cemetery, and donations are always welcome.
