In a small park in Saintes Maries de la Mer there is a beautiful compass rose included in the floor. The compass rose is created by using small stones in three different colors (red, beige and black) and indicates 16 directions with arrows of different size. The big arrows showing North, South, West and East are bicoloured beige and black. But only the North direction has a metal "N". Obviously, the people of France are intelligent enough to know the other directions from there. The directions NE, SE, NW and SW have a beige arrow and the remaining eight directions have small black arrows.
