One of several rest areas that were created as part of the First Lady's American highway beautification program.

The marker is affixed to a boulder that was mystifying painted blue for that occasion over 50 years ago! As the Roadside America website states: "We're guessing, but this painted rock probably wasn't what Lady Bird had in mind when she set out on her campaign to beautify America's highways."
