Excerpt from Historical Marker Text:

"Dr. James C. Loggins (1845-1921), mayor and city alderman, erected this Victorian residence in 1898. It was purchased in 1944 by Keith Mulkey, James Mulkey's grandson, and his wife Tina Beth (Wheeler)."

Waxahachie Daily Light

"Workers dug under the house, placing four long beams that would become the trailer under it.

Supporting the beams with blocks, more soil was removed until the trailer wheels could be placed under the home.

Four beams were also inserted through the second floor to allow the top story to be lifted off.

The house was cut in half, from top to bottom right down the middle of the front side.

The house was then cut in half from right to left dividing the first and second story. Each section was supported by two beams that would become the trailer.

The top story of the right half was lifted into the air by two cranes and the bottom half of the right side was driven out from under it.

The top half was lowered onto trailer wheels.

This was repeated on the left half.

The four pieces of the house were driven to Midlothian where they would be assembled bottom first, then top story.
