The Firehouse is manned by 'Retained' Fire Fighters, who are on a rotating On Call roster, ready to drop their usual job/occupation at a buzz from their phone or pager.
This is a dark brown brick building, symmetrical with a gable over the single bay panel-left door. With a hip, tiled roof over the 'cottage' and multi-panelled glass windows either side of the bay. There is a brick chimney to the rear of the building. There is a tall wooden 'telegraph post' at the back for the raising and draining of the used fire hoses. There is also an old Bell at the side of the premises, on Manners Street on a 3 metre tall wooden post. As well as what appears to be the Siren atop the gabled exit.
