La chapelle-reposoir de Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur est un petit édifice religieux d'esprit victorien construit en 1889. Cet édicule en bois élégamment ornementé présente un plan octogonal et des murs élevés coiffés d'un toit conique galbé à huit versants. La chapelle-reposoir est située au coeur de la municipalité de Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur, sur un terrain boisé qui fait face à l'église.

La chapelle-reposoir de Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur est construite en 1889 par l'entrepreneur J. Marcil. Son vocabulaire architectural se rattache à l'éclectisme victorien, un courant en vogue à la fin du XIXe siècle. Elle répond à une commande de l'archevêque de Montréal Édouard-Charles Fabre (1827-1896), venu visiter la paroisse cinq ans auparavant. Ce dernier demande alors d'y construire « une chapelle pour servir de reposoir à la procession de la Fête-Dieu ». Au Québec, cette procession effectuée en l'honneur du saint Sacrement est l'une des plus anciennes pratiques religieuses liées au culte catholique populaire et ses premières manifestations remontent au XVIIe siècle. La chapelle-reposoir a servi à la tradition processionnelle de la Fête-Dieu dans la municipalité de Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur jusqu'au début des années 1980.

The chapel-restoir of Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur was built in 1889 by the entrepreneur J. Marcil.
