Das Wappen der Stadt Kissleg stellt ein in von Silber und Grün schräglinks geteiltem Schild ein aufgerichteter, feuerspeiender, im silbernen Feld schwarzer, im grünen Feld silberner Panther dar.

Erstmals wird Kißlegg im Jahre 824 als Ratpotiscella erwähnt.
Am 28. Februar 1394 verlieh König Wenzel in Prag den Herrschaften das Marktrecht und die hohe und niedere Gerichtsbarkeit.
1548, 1704 und 1756 brannte Kißlegg fast vollständig nieder. Hungersnöte meldet die Chronik in den Jahren 1614, 1635 und 1682. Kißlegg kam 1806 endgültig zum Königreich Württemberg.
1820 entstanden die selbständigen Gemeinden Kißlegg, Sommersried, Emmelhofen und Wiggenreute.
Am 01. April 1934 entstand daraus die Gesamtgemeinde Kißlegg. 1972 erfolgte die Eingemeindung von Immenried und Waltershofen.
Kißlegg hat heute ca. 8.600 Einwohner.

Kißlegg was first mentioned in 824 as Ratpotiscella.
