The Cornish Flag, the flag of St Piran. A Black flag with a white cross.Representing White tin (Tin was mined in Cornwall) and the Black represents the Rock. White tin flowing through the rock, good overcoming evil.
There are claims that the design dates prior to 1188 when the flag was used in the Crusades

Every year on the 5th March is St Piran's day when Cornwall celebrate their origins.

The story of St Piran has remained at the heart of Cornish life – the festival, the churches, the flag that flies high all the while. Piran has had a great influence on Cornish life, exactly why he remains so prevalent. He was an inventor through his smelting; he was a good and moral man through his teachings; and he was a leader and hard worker through his church and preaching. These values are much of Cornwall and the Cornish people. Even with religion taken from the equation as today, as it is not as prevalent in society as back then, we are hardworking people, moral people, inventors and independent people. This is why we continue to celebrate the Saint Piran and celebrate ourselves, our lives and legacies
