The Great Flat Lode is a mineral bearing Lode south of the granite prominence of Carn Brea. Visitors are able to follow where the Lode went by a circular 12km trail.

Mining in this area was at its peak during the 1800 century, when Tin Copper and other minerals were mined.
Arsenic (Poisonous) was also refined in the area. Areas of the landscape are believed to be still contaminated where, even after so many year vegetation has not grown due to high concentrations of mining spoils.
