This funeral home is located in Fennville, Michigan on M89 Hwy/West Main Street. The building consists of stone style brick and white vinyl siding. Both the front and side entrances have white pillars holding up a deck with white fencing for decoration. The building has a flat roof with the West side being peaked and shingled.

From the website:Chappell Funeral Home is proud to have served the Fennville community for nearly 100 years. A commitment of caring professional service passed down from one family to the next.

Chappell Funeral Home began in the 1920's when Mr. Jay Burch purchased what was originally a furniture and undertaking business. The expansion to a full time funeral home occurred in 1932 when the Burch family gave up part of the family home to create what is now the site of the funeral home on West Main street in Fennville, Michigan.

Mr. Burch and his family served the Fennville community for 28 years. His commitment and dedication to the community of Fennville is shown by his willingness to put his own name on the business, Burch Funeral Home. In 1948 when Mr. Burch sold the Funeral Home to Mr. Lynn Chappell, Mr. Chappell changed the name Burch Funeral Home, to what is still known today as Chappell Funeral Home, the Chappell name has now become a legacy.

Mr. Chappell worked hard to improve the Funeral Home over his 20 years of service. The most notable renovation was the addition of the large east chapel.

In 1967 Mr. Chappell sold the funeral home to Richard and Marilyn Scovill. In keeping with the heart of the Chappell Funeral Home, Mr. Scovill kept its name and values of working hard to ensure the same caring professional service. Mr. Scovill loved Fennville, taking the time to become invested not only in his business, but also the community, serving on the local community board for 20 years. His oldest son William (Bill), grew up watching the values of professional care and service displayed by his parents to a community they all loved. Seeing these values and with the same heart, Bill and his wife Kathy took over the business from his father in 1991, where he served for 26 years and was deeply invested in the Fennville community where he still resides today.

In 2013 Bill took on a young apprentice in Tim Ofield with the intention that Tim would take over the business when Bill retired. Tim, much like Bill, grew up under the tutelage of a father who served families as they processed the loss of a loved one. Tim’s father, Larry Ofield, served the Kentwood community in the Ofield Funeral Home for over 40 years and comes from a long line of Funeral Directors. Tim is a fifth generation funeral director. Much like his father and the ancestors before him, Tim believes that his role is more than a job, it is a calling and a privilege to be in a position to help people through the loss of a loved one. He esteems the values passed down through the many years of service to the Fennville community and much like all of us at the Chappell Funeral Home, is proud of the legacy left by the Burch, Chappell and Scovill families. Tim takes over the Chappell Funeral Home with his wife Casey, son Jay, and daughter Olive. We look forward to many more years of caring professional service from the Ofield Family and the fantastic team at the Chappell Funeral Home where a new legacy is just beginning.

Under Tim Ofield, Chappell Funeral Home has a new apprentice in Alex Cardinal. Alex, with his wife Jessica, his 12 year old son Mitchell, and 2 year old son Jayce, have become the residents of Chappell. Moving from Caledonia, Michigan to Fennville in 2017. The Cardinal’s are implanted in the Fennville community and love what they have come to know as home. Alex got his feet wet working with Ofield Funeral Home and has become passionate about serving families. The Ofield Funeral Home trusted him to be the first to respond to the families they served. He comes with a glowing reference and is a man we are excited to have as part of the team at Chappell Funeral Home.
