L'église de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli est un lieu de culte de tradition catholique construit entre 1779 et 1781 et allongé par la façade en 1815. Le bâtiment en moellons se compose d'une nef rectangulaire à un vaisseau et d'un choeur plus étroit terminé par une abside en hémicycle. Deux petites chapelles latérales sont accolées à la nef au niveau du transept. La façade comporte une porte centrale flanquée de deux niches et surmontée par une fenêtre palladienne et deux oculus. Le clocher de la façade fait écho à celui situé au-dessus du choeur. Le bâtiment est couvert d'un toit à deux versants retroussés et à corniche cintrée. Une sacristie en pierre de plan rectangulaire a été érigée en 1815 dans le prolongement du choeur, puis dotée d'une chapelle de plan polygonal en 1875. Le lieu de culte, dont la façade est orientée vers l'ouest, est situé en bordure de la route, au coeur du noyau villageois de la municipalité de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, près du fleuve Saint-Laurent.
Les deux clochers, l'un sur le faîte en façade et l'autre au-dessus du sanctuaire, formés de deux lanternons sous une flèche élancée et reposant sur un tambour octogonal et une base carrée.

The church of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli is a place of worship of catholic tradition built between 1779 and 1781 and lengthened by the facade in 1815. The building is covered with a gable roof and curved cornice. A rectangular stone sacristy was erected in 1815 as an extension of the choir, and then had a chapel with a polygonal plan in 1875. The place of worship, with its west-facing facade, is located on the edge of the church. the road, in the heart of the village core of the municipality of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, near the St. Lawrence River.
The two bell towers, one on the ridge in front and the other above the sanctuary, formed of two lanterns under a slender spire and resting on an octagonal drum and a square base.
