They are all have the same design. A thin monolith, with direction arrows to nearby places at the top, and a map showing where you currently are.
As well as showing your location a circle around this spot shows waht's in the area within a 5 minute walk.
This particular sign is next to the summit lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal at Etruria. This was the site of a number of mills and warehouses of the pottery industry. It was also the junction of the Trent & Mersey Canal and the Caldon canal.
These days the buildings have been formed into the Etruria Industrial Museum.
