Costa Maya is a port in Mexico utilized by many cruise ship lines. A newer feature of this port is a flamingo exhibit. An artificial lagoon environment has been created which is the home for about a half dozen of American flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) which are native to the Yucatan peninsula. The aviary includes a fountain, wading area, beach area, and vegetation areas.
