Johanneskapelle Maria Laach

EN:
The Johanneskapelle in Maria Laach is a small sacral building from the 19th century.

description
The neuromic chapel stands sideways from today's path to the abbey church. It was built in 1864 on the site of a medieval gate system. It has its name since the re-founding of the abbey by the Beuron Benedictines in 1892. The Swiss roof of the church is attributed to Father Mauricius Gisler, a member of the archabbey Beuron, who grew up in the canton of Uri and studied architecture.
In the years 1980 to 1984, the chapel was redesigned inside. The painting of the walls and the windows was done by Professor Georg Meistermann (1911-1990). The windows depict St. Christopher, John the Baptist, Benedict of Nursia and Hildegard of Bingen, as well as the Seven Seals of the Secret Revelation. Three chandeliers and two holy water basins were created on the model of Ewald Mataré († 1965); the Madonna created Karl Osemann.
