"Der U-Bahnhof Kochstraße ist eine Station der Berliner U-Bahn-Linie 6 im Ortsteil Kreuzberg. Er liegt unterhalb der streckenführenden Friedrichstraße an der Kreuzung mit der namensgebenden Kochstraße und der Rudi-Dutschke-Straße. Der Bahnhof wurde am 30. Januar 1923 eröffnet und trägt im Bahnhofsverzeichnis der BVG die Bezeichnung Ks. Er verfügt über einen Aufzug vom Bahnsteig zur Oberfläche und gilt damit als barrierefrei.

Obwohl am Bahnhof selbst Schilder mit der Bezeichnung Kochstraße (Checkpoint Charlie) installiert sind, wird er in den Liniennetzplänen nur als U Kochstraße bezeichnet. Der 110 Meter lange Mittelbahnsteig besitzt an beiden Enden Ausgänge direkt auf die Friedrichstraße. Ähnlich wie die anderen Stationen unter der Friedrichstraße ist auch diese mit verputzten weißen Wandflächen und einer zur Unterscheidung gelben Stützreihe in der Mitte des Bahnsteigs vergleichsweise schlicht gestaltet.

Vom 13. August 1961 bis zum 22. Dezember 1989 war dieser Bahnhof in nördlicher Richtung der letzte dieser Linie auf West-Berliner Gebiet, bevor die Züge sogenannte „Geisterbahnhöfe“ durchfuhren. In dieser Zeit stand auf den Stationsschildern als kleiner Zusatz „Letzter Bahnhof in Berlin (West)“, ebenso erfolgten Lautsprecherdurchsagen bei jedem Zughalt: Zunächst als Hinweis „Letzter Bahnhof im Westsektor“, später dann „Letzter Bahnhof in Berlin West“. In den 1990er Jahren wurde der Bahnsteig von 80 auf 110 Meter verlängert, um die auf den Berliner Großprofillinien üblichen Sechswagenzüge aufnehmen zu können."

"The underground station Kochstraße is a station of the Berlin underground line 6 in the district Kreuzberg. It is located below the route leading Friedrichstraße at the intersection with the namesake Kochstraße and Rudi-Dutschke-Straße. The station was opened on 30 January 1923 and is named Ks in the station directory of the BVG. It has an elevator from the platform to the surface and is therefore considered barrier-free.

Although there are signs with the name Kochstraße (Checkpoint Charlie) installed at the station itself, it is only called U Kochstraße in the line network plans. The 110 metre long central platform has exits at both ends directly onto Friedrichstraße. Similar to the other stations under Friedrichstraße, this one is also comparatively simple with plastered white walls and a yellow support row in the middle of the platform.

From 13 August 1961 to 22 December 1989, this station was the last of this line on West Berlin territory in a northerly direction before the trains passed through so-called "ghost stations". At that time, the station signs had the small addition "Letzter Bahnhof in Berlin (West)" (last station in Berlin (West))", as well as loudspeaker announcements at every train stop: First as "Letzter Bahnhof im Westsektor" (last station in the west sector), later as "Letzter Bahnhof in Berlin West" (last station in Berlin West). In the 1990s, the platform was extended from 80 to 110 metres in order to accommodate the six-car trains common on Berlin's large profile lines."
