Maire de Trois-Rivières (1908-1913) et (1921-1923)
Médecin réputé, propriétaire d’un hôpital et de
deux pharmacies, président du Conseil Privé
du Canada, premier président de l’Union régionale
des Caisses Populaires du diocèse
de Trois-Rivières, président du Collège des Médecins
et Chirurgiens du Québec, premier président
canadien-français du Conseil Médicale du Canada.
Le Docteur Normand a été surnommé
« l’homme de la reconstruction » de Trois-Rivières,
ayant été élu maire peu après le grand incendie de 1908
qui avait détruit plus de 200 maison et édifices
du Centre-Ville dont la première église
de la paroisse Immaculée Conception.
C’est à la suite de cette reconstruction que la Cité de Laviolette
a pris un nouvel essor économique et est devenue
un centre régional au coeur du Québec.
Il était l’époux de Graziella Hudon-Beaulieu et père
de 10 enfants; ses nombreux descendants continuent
de contribuer à l’essor social et économique de notre ville
sous les noms: Normand, Méthot, Gouin, Ryan, Houde,
Gourdeau, Chartier, Villeneuve, Murray, Johnson, Lamy,
Lemay, Rhéault, Normandin

Dr. Louis-Philippe Normand
(1863-1928)
Mayor of Trois-Rivières (1908-1913) and (1921-1923)
Reputed doctor, owner of a hospital and
two pharmacies, President of the Privy Council
of Canada, first president of the Regional Union
of the Caisses Populaires of the diocese
of Trois-Rivières, President of the College of Physicians
and Surgeons of Quebec, first french-canadian president
of the Medical Council of Canada.
Dr. Normand has been nicknamed
"The man of the reconstruction" of Trois-Rivières,
having been elected mayor shortly after the great fire of 1908
who had destroyed more than 200 houses and buildings
of the downtown area including the first church
of the Immaculate Conception parish.
It is as a result of this reconstruction that the City of Laviolette
took a new economic boom and became
a regional center in the heart of Quebec.
He was the husband of Graziella Hudon-Beaulieu and father
of 10 children; his many descendants continue
to contribute to the social and economic growth of our city
under the names: Normand, Méthot, Gouin, Ryan, Houde,
Gourdeau, Chartier, Villeneuve, Murray, Johnson, Lamy,
Lemay, Rhéault, Normandin

the centenary year of the election
of Dr. L.-P. Norman to City Hall
and the beginning of the reconstruction
of Trois-Rivières.
