An unoccupied black chair, with the iconic image found on the POW/MIA flag designed by Newton Foust "Newt" Heisley, is enclosed within a square formed by four granite pillars joined by chains is dedicated to the memory of POW_MIA service members. A plaque on the front of the monument is inscribed:


Since World War I more than 91,000
service members are unaccounted for.
This unoccupied chair is dedicated to the
memory of these brave men and women who
sacrificed their lives serving this great country
