On November 11, 1944 eleven Belfeldars had to go get grain in Roggel by order of the Germans. They left around 5 o'clock in the morning. In the evening they arrive at the ferry in Kessel with full carts. They may not cross until 5 pm, because the engine of the spring is broken and therefore the ropes and manpower must bring the load to the other bank. The ferryman does not want to transfer them because the cargo is too heavy and the ferry is loaded incorrectly. They have to cross over on the orders of the German soldiers. The feather capsized and sank. In addition, seven residents of Belfeld and six German soldiers were killed. The remains of Kuëb Naus have never been found.
