Take a little drive off of Rt. 46 in Mims, Florida, for the opportunity to see a large variety of birds.

Thanks to the high salinity of the three lakes, South Lake, Salt Lake and Loughman Lake, a larger variety of birds than normal may be seen in the Salt Lake WMA. Per the state's website, there are more than 200 bird species typically found in this area. Joining the many birds are the normal feral pigs, alligators and gopher tortoises.

Watch the hunting season schedule as hunting is allowed in this WMA. Trails are open 1.5 hours before sunrise until 1.5 hours after sunset, 365 days of the year. No camping is permitted.
