We have found no useful information on this caboose beyond the number stenciled on one of the bogeys, 968750. Other Burlington Northern numbers on the sidewalls have been removed. We have found cabooses with similar numbers at the
Railway Preservation Photo Index, all older extended vision models. This seems to be a newer version, post 1985 or so, as it is a steel bodied caboose with a cupola with angled ends. One thing we noticed was that it has two air conditioners on the roof, the same type and style as those seen on extended vision cabooses from the 1980s with similar designation numbers.
The caboose is set in an area that appears to be intended to one day be a museum. It is behind a large tree just west of the intersection of NW D Street and NW Foster Street, two blocks north of Highway 2.
