Mrs. McCleskey's husband, James Turner McCleskey, was the son of the cemetery's benefactors, Ezekiel and Louisa McCleskey. The McCleskeys buried a relative here in 1879, and ultimately put the land aside as a public cemetery.
Mrs. McCleskey's modern, gray granite headstone has roses in the upper corners, and "In God's Care" is at the bottom. It reads:
