The City District Office at Freidrich-Schmidt-Platz off Landesgerichsstraße behind the Rathaus is a rather imposing five-storey building which is the home to the offices of the Einwanderung und Staatsbürgerschaft (Immigration and Citizenship) offices. It is thirteen bays wide with a central forward-projecting three bay section with large pilasters.
Above this central section is an ornate balustered parapet and set back turret with pilasters, cornices, swages and corner finials. High up in the turret is a clock and the hemisperical tiled roof is surmounted by this globe with its axis correctly orientated. The sea is blue and the land mass gold, there is no visible relief. Visible from Lichtenfelsgasse adjacent to the Rathaus is the Indian Ocean with India, Africa and Indo-China. The equator is shown running from top left to lower right. (See the gallery pic)
