Standing 91 meters (298'6'') tall, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations is Germany's tallest monument. It was dedicated in in 1913 for the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig.
There is a viewing platform on the top of the monument, offering a great view over the battlefield of the Battle of the Nations, where 122,000 people died in only three days.
In the back one can see the skyline of the city of Leipzig.
The entrance is a the bottom of the monument, through a door guarded by a statue of the Archangel Michael. There is a charge of eight Euro for adults and six Euro for children.
A very narrow stairway with 500 steps leads to the top of the monument. There are also two elevators going almost to the top. They end at the Hall of Glory, about 30 steps below the top.
