This tablet was erected to commemorate the centenary of the Bank of Montreal the oldest banking institution in British North America founded November 3rd, 1817 incorporated by royal charter July 2nd, 1822. This building was erected in 1847 the first to stand on this ground remodeled & extended to Craig St. 1905.
1817 - First president: John Gray; First cashier: Robert Griffin.
1917 - Fourteenth president: Sir Vincent Meredith Bart; Eighth general manager: Sir Frederick Williams Taylor.
