Jet, Oklahoma (official population 213) was founded by six brothers with surname Jett but the town name has been spelled with one 't' since incorporation in 1900. Built on the homesteads established by these brothers, the town moved two miles west in 1906 to take advantage of a new rail line.
Jet Lions Memorial Park is adjacent to the southeast corner of Wood Park and is bounded from that park by a short white pipe fence along the roadways on the east and south. The park contains a three-pillar veterans memorial, flagpoles, and a Cessna T-37B "Tweet" jet on permanent display. Murals on billboards describing the history of Jet are on the boundary between the two parks, and a settler's plow is on display near the murals.
